As an African-American living in socially contentious times, I am driven to make sense of the hegemonic structure of my own rural, predominantly white, Catskill Mountains community. Using video, photography, and found objects, I examine the mundane actions of rural people that often thwart opportunity for social, economic, and environmental progress in the name of perceived tradition or patriotism.
